The graphics below were made during my internship at The Texas Tribune, a nonprofit news organization in Austin that covers Texas government and policy.

Over the course of the internship, I worked with SQL, Javascript, D3, Pivot Tables, HTML and CSS to make graphics, charts and timelines to accompany reporters’ stories. During the state’s primary election, I often cleaned and loaded campaign finance data into PostgreSQL to analyze contributions.

Nifty or Shifty: A Campaign Finance Quiz

During my internship, I pitched the idea of a campaign finance quiz to my editors, and I worked with the executive editor to help gather interesting Texas stories and tidbits. Not only did the project do well on social media, but it also earned a shout out from the Institute of Nonprofit News.

I used Tabula to gather hotel occupancy data from consultant reports and worked with the reporter to create the graph, breakout box and table for this story.

Timeline: The Rise and Fall of the Cruz/Trump Bromance

Worked with the graphics department to design a timeline to accompany this story. This timeline design was later used for the Ken Paxton story.
